Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How will I know if you're the right therapist for me?
The best way to find out if we’re a good fit is to schedule a session or two. This gives you the chance to experience our style and decide if you’d like to continue.
Q: What can I expect from each session?
Sessions are a supportive space where we ask thoughtful questions and explore your goals, challenges, and strengths. Together, we’ll discover the best path forward for your growth and healing.
Q: How long are the appointments?
Most appointments last about 50–60 minutes, which is the standard for individual counseling sessions.
Q: How often will we meet?
Most clients attend weekly or bi-weekly sessions, depending on their needs and goals. We’ll work with you to create a schedule that feels manageable and effective.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
Yes. We are in-network with Highmark, Aetna, Geisinger (commercial plans, not family plans), and Optum/United Healthcare. We also accept private pay at $115 per 1-hour session.
When contacting your insurance provider, you may want to ask:
- Does my plan include mental health benefits?
- Do I have a deductible, and if so, has it been met?
- Is there a limit on the number of sessions per year?
- Do I need pre-authorization or a referral from my primary care provider?
Q: What is play therapy?
Play therapy gives children a safe and supportive way to express themselves through play, which is often their natural language. Our trained clinicians use play-based techniques to help children process emotions, build coping skills, and strengthen relationships at home and school.
Q: Do you offer counseling for couples?
Yes. We provide couples counseling, retreats, and intensives designed to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection. Our couples programs range from ongoing weekly sessions to immersive retreats tailored to your unique relationship needs.
Q: What are meditation workshops like?
Our meditation workshops and retreats offer a calming space to reset and recharge. Whether through guided weekly practices or silent retreats, we help individuals and groups build mindfulness, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.
Q: Can I cancel a session?
Life happens! If you need to cancel, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice so we can reschedule your appointment.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
No, our clinicians provide counseling services only and do not prescribe medication. If you are interested in exploring medication, we can coordinate with your primary care physician or refer you to a trusted provider.
