Mountain Top Counseling: Couples Clinic

Our office has recently launched an alternative program to the traditional couples/marriage counseling. This program offers a more in depth, intensive design to get to the root of issues between couples and to help both parties understand and more effectively communicate with one another.

An intensive couples therapy program offers the equivalent of nearly 20+ standard sessions within a few days. This accelerated approach can jumpstart progress, even if you’re considering long-term extended sessions. We dive quickly into relationship difficulties and potential solutions, bypassing the slow pace of weekly therapy to achieve deeper, more efficient results.

By prioritizing and enhancing your relationship through a research-based assessment process, you can engage in a concentrated deep-dive into your needs, helping to build, maintain, or repair your connection.

What to Expect from Intensive Couple's Therapy

The intensive program begins with both parties completing a comprehensive scientific assessment to gather detailed insights about you, your partner, and your relationship. Following this, couples can engage in up to 6 hours of therapy per day over one to four additional days.

A three or four-day intensive is typically recommended for its effectiveness in addressing multiple facets of the relationship. Research shows the 4-day Couples Intensive offers the best balance of therapeutic outcomes, time, and cost.

For couples looking for preventative care, premarital preparation, or minor issue resolution, a 2-day intensive is suitable. On the other hand, four- or five-day intensives are ideal for those dealing with more complex issues, trauma, or who have lost hope in traditional therapy.

During a consultation call, we will determine the most appropriate schedule for your goals and needs. This format allows for in-depth discussions about relationship struggles, past injuries, and the development of new communication skills - creating time and space for true rebuilding.

Benefits & Risks

Intensive therapy is practical for couples with busy schedules who can't commit to weekly sessions or who seek quicker progress than traditional therapy offers. It can be a lifeline for those needing immediate help.

However, it is important to note the intensive nature of this therapy can lead to experiencing uncomfortable emotions such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, loneliness, and helplessness. It may also involve revisiting unpleasant past experiences.

After completing the intensive, a 30-45 minute follow-up session will be scheduled (included in the intensive price) to assess your relationship’s progress and ongoing needs. At this final session, there is also an opportunity to create an After-Care Plan if needed (not included in the intensive price).

About the Therapists
The intensive couples services are led by:
Michelle Zapotoski & Lauren Martonick

Growing up, Michelle was one of three children raised by a single mom after her parents divorced. Experiencing the stress of this dynamic, Michelle was determined to create a stable and loving home of her own when she was in that stage of her life. Today, she proudly talks about her spouse of 13 years and her two beautiful children. Michelle’s home life is one of respect, faith, and love, and she considers this her greatest source of joy.

Lauren and her partner have been together since high school, essentially growing up side-by-side and learning as they've journeyed through life. From the excitement of moving-in together, moving across the country and back, getting engaged, to the challenges of raising children- they've faced it all together. These experiences have taught Lauren resilience and strength, showing her how to weather any storm that comes their way.

Both Michelle and Lauren are focused on offering a transformative and accelerated approach to couples therapy. Their goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and judgment-free environment where couples can rebuild and strengthen their relationship.

Pricing Information

This Intensive Couples' Program does not accept insurance or EAP programs for payment, as insurance will not pay for 90+ minute sessions with two therapists present. However, various discounts and payment plans are available upon request.

Payment is due in full at the time of booking for all intensive packages. For weekly sessions, payment is expected at the time of service.

Cancellations: We do enforce a strict 48-hour cancellation policy. If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment without giving at least two business days' notice, you will be charged the full session cost due to the custom nature of our services and the limited number of clients we accept.
