Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know if you're the right therapist for me?
The only way to really know if we're a good fit for you is to have a session or two with us. From there you can decide if you want to continue!

Q: What can I expect from each session?
We will go on a wonderful journey together in which we will ask you some thought-provoking questions. Your answers will often guide the direction of our work together.

Q: How long are the appointments?
Appointments last about 1 hour, which is standard practice for a typical therapy session.

Q: How often will we meet for a typical counseling program?
The typical recommendation is weekly or bi-weekly sessions.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
We accept Highmark, Aetna, Geisinger (commercial, not family) and Optum/United Healthcare, as well as private pay (our private pay rate is $115 per 1 hour session).

When contacting your insurance company, we recommend asking these questions to help determine your benefits:

- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

- Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Q: Can I cancel one of our sessions?
We understand things come up and you may not be able to make it to a session, and that is okay! We just ask for 24 hours notice prior to your scheduled session should you need to cancel and reschedule.

Q: Do you prescribe medication?
Our office provides only talk therapy, thus we are not able to prescribe medicine.
